New Years Resolution

“This year I am going to do it”
I say as I punch my hand to fist
“I am making my resolutions
And I’ll check them off my list”

“First of all, the house…
The office needs some organizing
The garage cleaning, attic needs clearing
Oh that all just sounds so agonizing”

“Maybe I’ll starts with my life…
I’d love to go back and get a degree
But then there’s homework, tests and essays
And none of my spare time will be free”

“How about beginning with my body…
I need to lose about 20 lbs or so
I can try to eat a little heather
But can I really give up my cookie dough?”

“So I guess I can work on my finances
It would be awesome to get out of debt
But giving up my hormonal shopping sprees?
I wouldn’t be the one to place that bet”

“Now what is left on my list?
Staring a journal, writing a book
Sorting out the pictures, lining the cabinets
And learning to be a better cook?”

“Well I guess I’ll rearrange my resolutions
I’ll need to set out a lengthy game plan
My new resolution is NO RESOLUTIONS”
I say as I punch my fist to hand

Caught You

I know at times he stays up at night
Just to watch me while I sleep
Trying to see the dreams I dream
To discover the secrets I keep

I caught him out of the corner of my eye
Staring at me while I cook & clean
Wanting to know what is in my head
And what my funny looks mean

Again I saw him catching a peek
Spying on my reflection in the mirror
Hoping that all my inner thought
Will become a little bit clearer

It is all those small things that he dose
At those times when he thinks I don’t see
That lets me know how he really feels
And I know that my husband loves me

Twas the night before Christmas, Puppy style

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
The small present was stirring as quite as a mouse
The ribbon was tied on the box with care
In hope that in the morning the other present would still be there

The parents were nestled all snug in their bed
While thought of escaping ran through the presents head
His paws began to scratch as he awoke from his nap
His nose pushed and pulled to lift the boxes flap

When snap went the ribbon making no even a clatter
The puppy sprung to his feet with a soft pitter patter
Out from his prison he flew like a flash
Shaking his head spraying drool with a splash

He smelled something yummy, and run lively and quick
To find a pile of cookies with a note “For St. Nike”
More rapid then an eagles he gobbled them all up
And he drank all the milk that was found in the cup

And then in a twinkling he let out a soft woof
As he noticed all the socking filled to the roof
He ran to the fireplace trying not to make a sound
Then with one swift leap he flew from the ground

His teeth just caught the edge of the stocking foot
As he landed on the ground, coating is paws in soot
He ripped though the cloth, chomping the candy-canes with a crack
There was nothing left to enjoy so he turned his back

He saw all the presents wrapped under the tree
And the little puppy wondered, “Could these be for me?”
So present after present we wiped up with joy
Searching a searching for a fun squeaky toy

Not finding anything there, the puppy decided
It must not be here, then the his toy was sighted
The lights how the twinkled, on the tree so bright
The puppy wanted to catch them, and oh what a sight

The tree came down with a smash and a boom
Then with a flash the light filled the room
And Mommy in her ‘kerchief, and Daddy in his cap,

Were no longer settled for a long winter’s nap.

The puppy backed up to the wall with his tale tucked by his leg
By the looks on there faces, it would be no use to beg
Daddy got closer and closer with his arms stretched out
His face turning red as he tried not to shout

Then without a warning the puppy took off with a jerk
Daddy dove down to catch him but the effort did not work
Soot coved paw prints now covered the floor
Mommy cried out with fury like a lioness roar

The puppy ran through the room over ribbon and bow
Sliding through Daddy’s arms as he ducked and dove
Then he was cornered with not even a chance
The puppy stared at the floor, not risking a glance

Then mommy with her arms, picked him up in a hurry
The puppy shook in her hold, he was so worried
But with no reason at all Mommy started to laugh
As she looked around the room at his destructive path

She smile at daddy with a gleam in her eye
Her laughter so laud, she almost began to cry
Then daddy did the same as he scratched the puppy’s ear
“He didn’t know any better” Daddy said “nothing to fear”

Then they both turned around as they kissed the puppy’s head
With him still in Mommy’s arms they headed back to bed
With sleepy lips Daddy mumbled, as he turned out the light
“Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night”
